Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins (born in Mexico) is a Mexican American broadcaster. She is currently employed by ESPN as a reporter for SportsCenter as well as occasionally hosting SportsNation. She was hired by ESPN in the year 2016. She is the daughter television reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta was bilingual from her age of nine. Her skill was instrumental in helping her land her first job as a production assistant for Univision Miami in which she was a producer of programs including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. In 2009, the CBS station of St. Petersburg hired her after this as an sports reporter. In 2009, she moved from Texas to Rio Grande Valley where she became a news correspondent on KNVO TV 48 Univision. In 2009 she made the move to Rio Grande Valley in Texas in which she was a reporter for KNVO 48 Univision as well as Fox2 News. She also filled in for sports anchors and weather forecasters. She was then the anchor and reporter for Univision Dallas' Deportes 23. She was then given greater responsibilities. She produced pieces about Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS, and World Series as well Dallas Cowboys NBA postseason finals FC Dallas, and Dallas Stars. She produced Univision 23 Accion Deportiva Extra and was the anchor. She was promoted as anchor of the sports segment for Despierta America Deportes' morning show. Antonietta still a senior at high school but she knew exactly what career path she wanted to pursue. While deciding if Mount Union was right for her, Antonietta visited the school. The campus was stunning as well as offered the level of education she sought. After finishing high school, she decided to enroll at the university and major in Media Studies. Mark Bergmann, her professor who was also the manager of the WRMU's 91.1FM station for which she worked for many years, became her friend. He encouraged her to believe in herself and his passion for journalism deeply affected her. She in turn, strived to live up to his expectations and never let him down.
